Stupidity at its worst. Halal only outlets discriminate against non-muslims.

Has anyone asked the mayor, why all stores aren't forced to sell halal and kosher food as well instead of it being a one-sided affair?

I think this is indicative of a worrying movement where people are willing to infringe on the liberties of the minority (indirectly their own liberty) in Europe.

Roubaix is a town of 100,000. I doubt in the UK you could find a town where the mayor can get away with such nonsense.

I don't understand what you're getting at with this article? For a start they're banning bacon from their chain of restaurants, which is wrong. There can also be other factors involved such as the local pig farming economies.

They've just stopped selling bacon. Don't know why you had to use the word ban. Secondly, why is it wrong? Must they sell all type of meat all of a sudden?

But ignoring that it's a mayor going out on one, if that's their customers want then the food chain should be at liberty to do what they want with their product, even if it is discriminatory. If the locals wrote to the mayor and he's taking action on their wishes i find it just democracy actualy working for once.

Its as discriminatory as a vegetarian restaurant not selling meat.

Maybe they decided it wasn't worth the bother and was easier just to source all their meat from one supplier? I certainly don't understand how having only halal meat is discrimination though as you don't need to be muslim to eat it.

Even if for some bizarre reason it was, its still not wrong.

It'd just be equal to muslims/jews not being able to eat from most normal outlets.

there is a difference.

Halal meat is inhumane and so i choose not to eat it

Fair enough. But in the case of KFC, are you aware that

8. Is KFC's halal chicken stunned before slaughter?

Yes, due to our strict animal welfare standards, we insist that all our poultry is stunned before slaughter. Our halal chicken has been accredited by the Halal Food Authority, one of the most widely recognised bodies in the UK and overseas. It allows the use of a technique called 'stun-to-stun' - a pain free process that makes the animal insensible to pain and suffering. A verse is also recited from the Koran at the point of slaughter by an appropriate person and the poultry will not come into contact with non-halal meat at any point in the supply chain.
The HFA accreditation which is clearly signposted in the participating restaurants allows us to offer halal accredited meat whilst remaining committed to the same animal welfare standards as before, which meet or exceed all relevant UK and EU legislation.

I presume those who are happy with this situation would be equally happy if all fast food outlets in London stopped selling cheeseburgers to keep the Jewish population happy? Cheeseburgers not being kosher because they mix milk (cheese) with meat. Therefore denying everyone else the chance to enjoy a delicious cheeseburger.

One outlet =! all. Also I can assure you that if indeed what you said is true, there are jewish food outlets not selling cheese already.
