Does anybody know how often the Haldex oil and filters should be changed [on a Leon Cupra 4]?
This is the same system as the Golf IV 4Motion, which i believe is the first generation Haldex. Not sure if it's the same as the early TTs though.

Anyway, if anybody has concrete information on this please let me know.
Google searching has brought up oil changes every 20,000 miles and oil+filter ever 40,000 miles.

Looking through my service book, the Haldex oil was done at 60,000km. It's now at 140k and afaik it hasn't been touched since..
I mentioned Haldex to my dealer 18 months ago and he said it didn't need changing. Whether he meant at that time, or at all, I'm not sure.

They did ... just not in RHD markets.

From my days on UKMKIVs it was oil every 20k, oil and filter every 40k. (miles that is).

Yes, this is my source for the moment. I was hoping for something more official :p

Sold the Bora 5 years ago, so I've not got the service book. I've got a Haynes somewhere, let me check.

/edit: 4 cylinder only. Doesn't say. Ah well.

As you found Gen1 haldex is 20k oil and 40k oil and filter. Gen2 is 40k for the oil change and I would assume the filters done at the same time but I'm not 100% on the filter.

Wow, there is potential for quite high running costs for normal people then.

If your car is on VW Longlife servicing does that not mean that you need your diff oil changed at EVERY service?!

I don't know if the earlier cars had a variable service schedule. On my old car it would have had to be done roughly every third service. It doesn't cost that much, its squirted in with what looks like sealant gun and doesn't take long. What's shocking though is how many dealers don't even know it's ment to be changed.

I guess i should get mine changed pretty soon then. It's done 50,000 miles since the last 'Haldex' service, whatever that entailed :p

So £10 cheaper than i expected! Not really specially formulated, diff oil comes in many grades and types jsut as engine oil or gearbox oil does.
