*half* broken ethernet port...

[Predicament]

My rig doesn't detect my old WG121 router.

My normal download speeds (700 Kb/s) are as low as 5 kb/s when I am using the ethernet...

Is there an alternative solution? Like buying a network card for example..

How do you mean "doesn't detect it"?
I assume you have restarted the router?

Yes, you can buy an addin card. The Intel PRO/1000 are excellent cards.

my mistake. by 'doesn't detect' i meant, it cannot find drivers for the USB WG121 adapter.

therefore my only option seemed to be using an ethernet cable.
