Half Life 1080p?

Is it possible to get HL1 to run in 1080p properly?

Don't see why not, set it to 16:9 aspect ratio and the resolution should be there.

I did. Although there was an error saying something alone the lines of "this resolution is not supported".

Was just about to load it up and check for you but unfortunately i've recently formatted for a windows 7 install and not downloaded Half Life 2 yet. I'll step aside and let someone else be more helpful, sorry!

Yeah... I just rechecked, Its HL1 btw... and it turns out that its just the widescreen support. Which should technically work. The error says "this video mode is not supported".

EDIT: Can't even get it to run at 1280x1024. Im running windows 7 btw.

Oh duh, sorry, i assumed it was halflife 2 by reflex.

Meh... having too many problems, Im gonna see if HL:Source is much better.

Are you running the latest video drivers off nvidia or ati's web sites (not Windows Update)? I don't think there is OpenGL support out of the box which is what HL runs best under.

Is it the game or the monitor that says the resolution is not supported?

just had a play, hl- source works fine, in 1080, hl1 works at 1080 in opengl mode, but failed in direct3d.

Just had a look and 1920x1080 is available to me. You have have to set 16:9 in the aspect ratio in the box below resolution before you can select 1920x1080.

This in on the Steam version HL1. Maybe if you are using an old HL1 retail CD then it isn't patched or something.

Its the steam version. OpenGL worked, I found that out, but im running source now anyway for the added benefit of AA and stuff.
