Half-Life 2 - Anti-Aliasing doesnt work on my 7900GTX?

Hi,

I'm pretty frustrated with this and there's a for sale sign getting whacked onto this graphics card if I can't solve this problem!

In Half-Life 2 (vanilla, not ep1 or anything), I can't get rid of the jaggies, even though it's "apparently" on 6xMSAA!

I've updated to the latest drivers, run steam updates.

I have a version of Half-Life 2: Episode 1 that doesn't use Steam (don't flame or whatever, can we keep on topic please), but that only has these AA options:

- None
- 1x
- 2x
- 4x

...it doesn't say "MSAA" and doesn't go up to x6. But the AA works fine in that - no jaggies in sight! WTF?

So what's the remedy? Why isn't my anti-aliasing working in half-life 2?

dont them cards have problems with HDR+AA? Try just selecting one or the other.

It doesn't have HDR on

:O sorry m8 i have no idea what the problem could be. Do your other games work with AA on? If so try reinstalling Half-Life2. Seems strange to me

Try forcing it in the program files with notepad

Nvidia cards dont do 6xAA only ATi cards do. Nvidia do 2x, 4x, 8x as standard so select 4x. Half life 2 can do HDR and AA with the source engine im pretty sure.

Selecting 4xAA will be your best bet other than setting it to manual in the nvidia control panel to 8x

If all else fails just set it to None, and force it in the drivers.

I don't know why it appears as an option if my card isn't capable of it, though!
