Half Life 2 chapter select

Guys...is there any file or line of config that tells Steam you've completed HL2 (and the eps)? I'm wiping the system soon and want the chapters to remain unlocked. Backing up from Steam never preserves this - anyone know how?

Note: This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup copy of the file before proceeding. Use a text editor to edit the "config.cfg" file in the "\hl2\cfg" directory. Locate the "sv_unlockedchapters" line and change its value to "15".

Ah brilliant. I assume '15' refers to the number of chapters in the game, so this can be adapted for Episodes and Portal?

i'm just playing HL2, i brought the orange box. So once i have finished that i go to HL2ep1 and then HL2ep2 yeah? and after that there are unlocks ?

No when you complete it you just get a level select.

i see, really enjoying HL2 at the mo, just starting the level where you have a team of rebels, after the prison one. so still got the others to go!
