I have this Half-Life 2 mod setup (done in the correct order) and am really enjoying it. However, for some reason Crossfire is not working on me. I noticed my frame rate has been dipping pretty badly on the current level I am on.

Now, judging by the article here, I should be breezing through with this mod:

In pretty ordinary situations my frame rate is dropping to low 30s, using the same settings as they are at 1920x1200, except my resolution is only 1920x1080. I noticed that my performance was more in line with a single 4890, so I tried disabling Crossfire to see what happened. Sure enough, I get the same performance with one card as I do with two.

Crossfire is working fine with all my other games I have tried, and it does appear to activate for this game (the screen does that weird thing where it loads twice and if you Alt-Tab, the 3D image is ghosted onto the desktop). But for whatever reason, the performance does not change.

Anyone have any ideas about how I can remedy this?

I'm not sure if it'll help your problem, but the latest version is CM10 as far as I know, (one 10gb download).

Not got Crossfiire, so I can't really help with your problem.

You are correct about it not being the latest version, but I'm quite sure it won't solve the problem. Loads of people are using the version of Fakefactory that I am and have no issues with Crossfire.

Overslop have you checked to see if crossfire works when running the plain version of HL2? (ie. without the mod)

I just did that timko and you were wise to suggest that. Sure enough, Crossfire isn't working here either.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest drivers but no joy. Got rid of my custom Asus OCing software too, but again no luck. :(

Well it's not the mod that's causing a lack of crossfire, not that you should have been considering it was even that in the first place since CM is all models and texture rather than game engine changes.

I've got some time tomorrow to get Steam installed on a crossfire rig that I'm building at the moment, maybe I might stumble across the same problems and find a solution

Bad news for you Overslop :( , crossfire works just fine for me in HL2 EP2 on my freshly built testing rig.

To check that crossfire was kicking in for me, this is what I did:

1) Downloaded the latest version of Gpu-Z

2) Load it up and left it on the default selected adapter (drop down box at the bottom of the main window)

3) Selected the "Sensors" tab and ticked "Continue refreshing etc" at the bottom.

4) Leave that instance running and load up Gpu-Z again and selected the second adapter in the drop down box

5) Hit the "Sensors" tab and ticked "Continue refreshing etc" at the bottom.

6) Start HL2 Ep2, played for about 10mins and then quit the game.

7) Looked at both Gpu-Z windows (still on "Sensors" tab for each window) and verified that BOTH cards had increased from 2D speeds to 3D when playing and then back down again to 2D after I quit. They both did and so I'm satisfied that crossfire is working on my rig.

I didn't do anything special. Installed latest Cats, enabled CrossFireX in Cats, installed Directx, Steam and then as above. That's it, no other tweaking :(
