Half life 2 ep2 poor fps?

Im running the game at 1680x1050 and everything on recommended specs eg high 4xmsaa, 8 fsa? but im only getting 20 fps inside and around about 15 fps outside, ive tried lowering the settings but that didnt seem to help, id expected to run the game at max everything with my 2900xt, espically since the game was bundled with the card.

drivers? i was getting 60fps locked throughout the entire game (because of v-sync) (8800GTX)

Well thats really not right, i was getting 30fps lowest at 1920x1080 16x 8x, everything on high, hdr etc with a 4400+ and a x1900xt

Gotta be drivers surely?

Im using the new 7.10 drivers, may be something wrong with my comp as CoD4 demo ran around the same fps as well, maybe a format is in order?

Try ditching the AA and turning shadows down a notch.

Dunno about that, the CoD4 demo ran like ass for me too, however EP2 runs smooth as silk whacked up to the max (spec in sig). I'm also using 7.10's.

80-105FPS for me on a GTX

Try changing the texture quality setting from 'High' to 'Very High' ingame, I had about 10-15 FPS the other day and swapped the setting ingame, then it shot right back up to 80-100.

If think i know what the probelm may have been, i had a profile for MoH:A which had Adaptive AA and Temporal AA and wide tent, switched those 2 AA stuff off and lowered the AA in the game, now its up to 30 and 60.

There is still something up dude ...

I get a higher fps (40 min) on an x1800xt 512 / 3500 x64 2.57 Ghz

4aa & 8 AF too :/

Try using driver cleaner.
