Half Life 2: Episode 2

despite having the orange box since release for PC and completing/enjoying HL2 Ive only recently played episode 1, and have not got around to episode 2 yet.

Let me just say that I thought Half Life 2 was one of the most boring, unoriginal overhyped games I ever played, never liked it, didn't think too much of the original either tbh. I recently played episode 1 and it felt like much of the same, so with trepidation I went and played episode 2.

Now i'm glad I soldiered on through the mundane first few games as episode 2 is excellent, imaginative story, some inspired gaming scenarios, tougher than the others...basically in my eyes exactly how a game should be.

So, if like me you didn't like the first few half life games, go ahead and give this a shot, you may be surprised :D

HL2 was way better than the "episodes"
 
Enjoyed HL2, Ep1 was a slight disappointment but still worth playing through for the story if nothing else, Ep2 more than made up for it though - sheer quality. I havent enjoyed an fps as much since.
 
Ep 2 was brilliant, as most say, Ep 1 wasn't quite as good, but all of them so far have been very impressive.
 
I'd never played any of the half life games but then I bought the orange box and OMG.. the whole lot from start to finish in about a month (don't get much chance to play and they're long games!) and I loved them.

Probably my favourite gaming experience ever.

It really shows things like crysis a completely clean pair of heels.

I've never played it, would it be worth playing even now, after HL2 and Bioshock, Crysis etc? I was late in the gaming scene, so HL2 was my first proper FPS experience.
 
i've just finished the whole HL2 : series and wow they are brilliant. Ep1 was the weakest of the 3, but i'm unsure of my fav out of hl2 and ep2. May have to play em again hehe
 
Great series but I am struggling to see why they are released so far apart! Were they not meant to come out every 6-8months? EP3 is going to look very dated next year!

Story...definately, gameplay...possibly, graphics...probably not...however, avoid Deus Ex 2: Invisible War, it's awful!
