Half Life 2 Key mapping problem

I've got a problem playing HL2. When I press CTRL-S (crouch and backwards) it drops to a menu. Bit of an immersion killer. Any ideas for a solution (without remapping the controls)?

When you say it drops to a menu... do you mean HalfLife² minimizes to the windows taskbar?

Sounds like you could have another application open/running which has this key combo configured?

Nope. It drops to one of the in game menus. Will check which one later.

Nevermind. It mysteriously sorted itself out.

Edit: been like this for months. I did recently disable a few things I didn't need in msconfig. Might have done the trick. Also swapped from the version of Norton provided by BT Yahoo to AVG.
