Half-life 2 not loading anymore

I'm not sure when or why it stopped loading, no hardware or software has changed on my PC.

The loading bar gets about 4 blocks from the end, then just stops

I've tried deleting all Half-life 2 content and reinstalling it with no luck (that includes removing all the caches and the ClientRegistry.blob file)

HL2.exe and Steam are allowed in my firewall.

I've also tried multiple different save games, they all do the same thing so they're not corrupt.

CSS works perfectly.

Any ideas on a fix?

Any idea where the save games need to be placed when using the 32-bit client?

Ah. The 32-bit client isn't picking up my save games

Can't find anywhere other than the default directory to put them.

Bump - Half-life 2 still not loading

It was loading before, not changed anything on the system :/

I haven't updated my graphic drivers or anything, not sure why or when the problem started

Even reinstalled Half-life 2.

Meh I hope I'm not gonna have to delete my entire Steam folder to get it sorted, that'd just be a pain - would take ages to update, only running 300Kbps here :/

A 12.49MB steam client update was released yesterday, I'll download that now. Hopefully it'll fix the problem.

Also, as far as I know my sound/graphics/chipset are all up to date, I only updated them a few weeks ago. Half-life 2 has been working perfectly since those updates, it only stopped working randomly recently
