half life 2 options help

well basically seeing as you are all raving on about ep 1 i thought id attempt to complete this

so i installed it on my shuttle that uses the 27 inch sammy as a monitor

it works fine, great i think im off now!

then i notice its running in 800 x 600, not great on 27 inch

so i go into the options, bump up the resolution

i also notice a "widescreen 16:9" option, cool i say, my screen runs that, il tick that,needless to say as soon as i run half life 2 i lose picture and cannot change it back.....any ideas how to without re installing?

On a side note, how can i increase the resolution beyond 1280 on the options menu

You can try removing the config file, I think it replaces the default one.

tried that, it didnt work, oh well, il re install it tonight when the italy game is on

There's a command line I think you can use, or you can edit the registry for episode one, not sure where off the top of my head in the registry it is though.

safe mode will make it run at 640x480 in window - i cant remeber how to do it and cant practice as steams updating

try searching for it

I had this problem with HL1. But it was irriversable. I uninstalled, reinstalled, deleted and did a manor of things I'm not going to mention.. But no luck.

But I'm sure this will be fine

Didn't check the registry did you?
