Ok, I've just re-installed half life 2 onto my new pc and steam etc.

I've typed in the email address for the account i had before and entered the password and then entered the cd key but it says that its already registered elsewhere. Yes, this is correct, its registered, but to the address i entered.

can anyone tell me what i need to do about "authorising" my pc?

i've done a password reset but this is no use.

I'm sure my account name was: "Spitz0r^" but i canne be for sure. when i enter it it says invalid or doesn't exist.

any ideas?

thanks

greg

I don't think you have to re-enter the code into your account. Just simply go to the games window, double click HL2, it will download the updates and you will be ready to play. As far as I know.

You dont need to re-enter the cd-key, its registered to your steam account. As long as you have logged into steam with the correct account, it doesnt matter.

see, this is what i thought, and i'm sure i'm using the same account that i signed up with.

question, if i enter my email address instead of my 'account name' i.e. my screen name that i originally entered, are these two tied together, also?

thanks

Greg

Surely this shouldn't be 'pre-loaded' this should be available for play?!

thanks

:S

try double clicking on them and let them decrypt/update

for me at least it wont let me sign in with my email address only my account name/passworld not email adress/password

It probably only says pre-load complete because it hasn't been updated yet/decrypted because you installed from the disk?

Double click on HL2 and it should auto-update and be ready to play once it has done so.

Made 100% sure you're in the right account? Try deleting the clientregistry.blob, in the Steam folder if it still says that after then you're on the wrong one.

whenever i double click on either counter-strike:source or half-life 2 it just comes up with a new window asking me to 'purchase half-life 2'
:(

 any other ideas?! :(

You must either be in the wrong account or something has gone terribly wrong :p

Sure you're not in the wrong account?

If not, I'd give Steam support an email, they're helpful folk and they'll get your problem sorted.
