Half Life 2 problems

Hi,

I'm have just installed the game, signed up with steam and "activated" the product... apart from apparently the code has already been registerd on another account.

So basically because I don't know my old steam account, I can't play the game again that I personally purchased some time ago?

That really sucks.

Only way around I can see if going to find a crack, but I want to be able to play legitimately on the online servers etc, because I haven't tried CSS yet.

Is there anybody I can contact to get this activated?

Can't you use the "Retrieve a lost account" function?

If not that, then give the helpline that I'm sure exists a call.

You're going to either have to try and remember your old Steam account details, get your details sent to e-mail or whatever, or get in contact with valve, who will be able to release the CD Key from the old account and then allow you to create a new one, though it may take a few days to do so.

Just had a look at the retrieve lost account options, and you can use a previously activated product code to find out the name/pass.

Here are the options for *I don't know my account name*:

I remember the contact email address I used
I remember the product code I used

You said you've got the product code... just stick it in there?

Hmm I look a bit silly now, I didn't even consider it would have that option.

Just used it and details have been sent to an old email I don't use, still have the log in tho! CSS here we come. People seem to rave about it but I haven;t tried it yet.

It's de-crypting the gamefiles now...
