Half Life 2 Wont Start

Just installed HL2 "holiday 2006 collection"

steam has updated and verified everything, restarted my PC now if i click launch it just says its verifying again then never launches the game...any ideas? :confused:

Do you actually get to the steam menu?

Also check the steam log, in the valve/steam dir, iirc.

yeah i get onto steam fine, just doesnt seem to want to load the game

think i found some logs, but dont understand them just a bunch of numbers

What does it say by the side of the game(s)?
Also check that your firewall hasn't blocked the game(s).

100% ready on them all apart from HL2 : Lost coast which is downloading 90%

Did it come with Cs:S as i now the version i bought (retail) if you dont install CS:S then half life 2 wont work

got it working now, all i did was manually tell it to validate the files and it works fine

all high settings with 6xAA

i am playing through hl2 again , then il do episode 1 then il be set for episode 2
