OK, so it sounds as though there was a team of them and they used a few tricks to make things easier (and 4 years of practise to get every move right) but my mind is a bit blown at the idea of completing a big game like Half-Life in just 20 minutes and 41 seconds:

Do many people devote their lives to this sort of thing? Probably better than trying to beat the world record for sitting in a bath of custard...

A guy I was watching had this mod running that got rid of the speed restriction on bunny hoping. Dunno how much I agree with it being a true speedrun if it requires a mod to do it, but certainly made an interesting watch

original release had no speed restriction on bunny hoping Valve patched it in a later release.

This speed run was done using the early pre patch version of thye game and using crouch and jump scripts but even with them the control reequired to move around at those speeds and make those jumps is insane.

They also used Save/Load bugs to skip parts of the game It was insightful watching some of the tricks to skip chunks of the level out and it was nostalgic to watch the run through even though the missed lots of the game out.
