Hi there

I have recently moved into a house where half the tv aerial is missing..it doesnt have a plate on the wall and this is currently all i have to use my tv.

I have an aerial and tried to unscrew the missing section on that and use on this...but the male thread diameter is bigger than this one.

any advice?

Ah the question really should be (forget the image uploads arent allowed)

what are the thread sizes for tv aerials? i dont want to buy the larger one!

These are the two different types of connection you'll see on a wall plate:

(that just happens to be a plate which has both, often they'll be individual)

The screw-on type is usually for satellite connections and the push-on type is for terrestrial. If you only have 1 type and you need the other, an adaptor wont help - it's a completely different signal.

This. Look for an aerial on your roof, or a dish on the wall facing south.

It's vaguely possibly you have a splitter in the line somewhere which does use type F connections for RF TV signals, but not too likely.
