Hi,

Are all of the source engine now 64bit (when a 64bit O/S is detected) or just Halflife 2 and Lost Coast?

And will it detect Vista x64 as a qualifying O/S or has it not been programmed to detect vista yet?

Cheeers,

Ant.

It would be all Source based games I'd have thought.

As for detecting, I'm not sure, have a search of the Steam forums.

My understanding is its the source engine that is 64bit, thus any game that uses the source engine (but not all steam games!) will use the 64bit extensions purely for the gfx engine. The game itself would have to be specifically written to take advantage of 64bit extensions for anything other performance boosts though.

Stupid question maybe...
But what benefit does 64bit offer over 32 bit
I have it in my head it's just a few fps extra in which case it hardly seem's worth it as it run's well even on low end rigs.

I have not seen a recent comparison but I suspect the performance is similar. But i'm on a 64 Bit OS so why not.

Don't want any dirty 32 Bit code running on their now do I?   ;)

Only have Vista 64, Farcry 64 and soon to be HL2 64. :)

Just a heads up.

Steam has b0rked the 64bit version of Source. You have to run the game with "-32bit" tags for now.

And there was me thinking it was my drivers......
