HalfLife Episode 2?

I can't wait for this game, huge hl fan, and the revised engine looks amazing. And by the looks of videos, EP:2 will push the engine as far as it will go :D

I read a comment on another site which rang very true for me.... as each Episode is taking over a year to develop, it almost defeats the object of having episodic content, you may as well have a new game (and hence more than the 6-8hrs gameplay).

I'm looking forward to the new dynamic lighting that will be added to Source. Apparently Valve plans to add that to the current existing games out, is this true?

Its a joke what is happening with the episodic method. Huge waits between episodes with Half-life. Sin getting canned after one episode....

Sam and Max on the other hand shows exactly how episodic releases should be done.

Shortly before ;).

Even better!

It's getting like the BF2 situation with the episodes, since they cost roughly the same and give the same "value for money" (not good value though).

I couldn't care a less..
Its the same with Crysis too..

I'd prefer a developer takes more time on gettin the game right than releasing a shoddy versions of what could have been an amazing title.

imo.

That's what Valve normally do.

yeah, then announced its coming to xbox 360 and PS3 aswell as pc which pushed the release date back :(

You see, this is what a ******* hate. The PC's were the main platform and then all the console fanboys (more like fangirls) scream and then we have to wait. But when we want a console game on PC, what do we get: "Oh sorry, that's not possible". I mean, all the farcry additions were only on console, and they had better graphics! I mean, there was 3D waves in the console version but apparently "it can't be done on PC's with current technology". It's happening with almost all the majot developers and it screws us over.

That is just Ubisoft. Ubisoft and the PC are seemingly incompatible these days. They don't have a clue.
I have a lot of Ubisoft PC games but i won't buy ports until they do them properly.

Episode 2 would never have been out last year, even if it wasn't coming out on the consoles. It just wasn't finished.

As for the comment about making a full game... well 18 months for an 8-10hr game is better than 5 years for a 30hour game in my opinion. The episodes are not really "episodic" but the idea is good. Hopefully they can get the wait down to a year for Episode 3.

stupid consoles, playing FPS without a keyboard and mouse is retarded, unless the game is called goldeneye

-edit, i hope they add a few guns and enemies, the super headcrab zombie was a nice and scary addition to EP1
