I seem to change a dipped bulb quite regularly, like every few months. Not sure how often others change their bulbs. The filaments break, and I don't know if it's bumpy roads doing it or just normal usage. I'm wondering if the Halfords ones are not that good?

I'm at Halfords now. I can buy a Halfords own twin pack standard 477 for £16.99, or their heavy duty (says "reinforced filament for greater durability") twin pack for £19.99, or their long life upgrade bulbs (says "up to 2x life of a standard bulb") twin pack for £19.99, or buy standard Bosch twin pack for £18.99.

What might you recommend will last me the longest between replacements?

Would not trust halfords bulbs again, bought a pack of 2 to replace one of my main bulbs that died, 1 week later one of my new bulbs went so i put back in my good old bulb, week after that, the other halfords bulb broke, went to halfords to complain and they would not replace/give me my money back so i went and bought some philips bulbs, and they have lasted me for years.

Hmm, I'll avoid the Halfords then. Thanks topgun for the Osram Silverstra link. £11.90 for H7 twin pack is great. Are they very good bulbs then?

Meanwhile, I need to stick a new bulb in right now, so, get the Bosch?

And while on trade card, that would for for £19.99 down to £5.00 :D

Can I have one? :p

I bought a pair of Bosch to tide me over. I'll order the Osram ones.

I always find it difficult to get the bulb centred when inserted into the tubular frame that surrounds it. Doesn't matter how I turn the bulb it always sits at an angle. So I got it as close to centred as I could then pushed the clip and plug back into place.

The extra bright ones they do were indeed very bright but lasted about a year. The heavy duty ones have now lasted 3 years and although obviously not as bright as the others do give off a decent amount of light, better than the original ford bulbs.
