i'm guessing it's not a competitor so it's ok to ask?

how do these things work?
reason i ask is this....

Car R reg ford Galaxy with 2007RDS head unit and steering column controls.

whats to go it:
JVC CD head unit about 5 years old (no jack plug so no ability for the steering column controls i'm guessing).
normal connections on back BUT:

when it comes to connecting to the CD wiring loom only the black power connector fits and works. the brown one - is that for the speakers? and whats the silver one and the yellow one both about half the size of the brown and black plugs?

i've seen in halfords there a connector for the 2007RDS unit but do i have to trace it back and remove it or connect the adapter which seems to be the right size as the silver one? would this enable the speakers to work?

in the car i have the following:
Black connector(power etc)
Yellow connector
Silver connector
the aerial (which DOESN'T need the adapter halfords specifies as it fits WITHOUT it which is why i'm questioning the fitment)

on the back of the stereo i have the following:
top connector
bottom connector
aerial(fits so sorted)

every kit i've tried fits the stereo but not the car.
help.

When I had my old '99 Mondeo, that had a non working 2007 RDS stereo in it, I skipped it and replaced it with a JVC head unit, the adaptor plate I got from Halfrauds had a lot of wires that seemed not to match but I thought WFT and plugged it in anyway and am pleased to say it worked great. :)

They assured me I'd get a refund if it did not work anyway. Suck it & see mate I suppose. :)

Why not go to Halfords and get them to sort it for you?

cheers for the responses. ended up sorting it myself as the pads you look at to get the correct part were completely wrong. found out NONE apply if you have a 2007 RDS stereo as theres an amplifier in the car.

so just bought a special adapter for the 2007 RDS radio and it fitted a treat to 2 out of 4 connectors. didn't need an aerial adapter either although the halfords guide said otherwise so it's all fitted now.

just took the car down to compare wiring as i didn't want to buy another bloody duff one!

still it works now. :)

so the 2007 RDS has a built in amp in the car and as a result you just need the adaptor and thats it. you don't need anything else even if it says different in the halfords book.

Probably explains why the 2007 in my old Mondeo lit up but made no sound.... :o:D
