Condolences on spending £700 on a hybrid :/

I know but I dont need a MTB bike and did not feel comfortable with a road bike so this was the best compromise I could think of.

someone dumped a brand new Trek 7300 in my storage room so I have that to use also if i want to go off road.

Ignore the road bike only brigade. I love my road bike, and my mountain bike, but there are plenty of times that a hybrid would have been the perfect compromise.

or just get a cx bike

I thought about the CX but having never owned a road bike I did not know how I felt about the drop bars and also I really like the idea of hydraulic brakes which the CX does not have.

At the end of the day I can sell this bike for £500 to £600 so if I dont like it its not such a big issue.

Note I have not been on a bike in 10 years lol.

Hyrdaulic discs are nice indeed. You can get them on CX bikes but they tend to be more like double the cost of the bike you bought :)

you will learn to hate flat bars and the upright high in the air riding position of a hybrid once the windy days come

I can literally gain 4mph from going to the hoods on my road bike bars > drops when it's windy and I'm not talking about 40mph gales

I started riding my work commute (inner-city) last November on a (cheap) hybrid (Carrera Subway). Prior to then I hadn't ridden a bike in 17 years... And back then I was all MTB's and messing around in the countryside (where I grew up)! I got the hybrid as I didn't really realise there was such a big difference between it and a road bike.

You'll get better and better on the hybrid, I got my commute down from 33mins (pushing myself hard) to 20mins (easy) in the space of about 6 months. One day I pushed myself to 19mins (and threw up half way home lol)

I then got a (cheap) road bike (Carrera Virtuoso) about 5 weeks ago.

I'm now pushing 18mins average on my commute, if I really hammer it I can do it in 16mins, I'm getting quicker and quicker still (only just started using the drops) and will be changing to clip ins shortly. I've told myself I'll go back to the hybrid in the winter time but as my road bike is only a cheapy I'll probably just get some 'winter' tyres.

So depending on what you're using it for, a road bike will make a bigger difference to work commutes once your body gets more conditioned ;)

So I tried riding this bike and just do not enjoy it lol, I would much rather go for a run.

Other than ebay can someone suggest a bike forum where I can sell it? How much would I get back? Its only been out twice.

Probably not waiting 9 months before trying it out would have been a good idea. :p
