Halfords Trade Card

They wouldn't give me one when I asked the other day. Despite using loads of Halfords pro tools for my job and my business buying them :(

I went in with masses of receipts for car and bike engines, engine parts, brakes, suspension parts etc, along with dozens of Halfrauds receipts from the various spray paints etc I've bought in the last month. I was simply told I'd have to be spending "£5-600 per month to qualify for one without a trade qualification"

Off to Motor Factors to get the rest of the stuff I need then :)

it seems to be pot luck whether you get a trade card at halfords.
i went in there with a load of paperwork and at first they said they would need a payslip, which i didn't have.
then i said i saw on their website that receipts from motor factors would be adequate.
in the end i said i didn't have a payslip cos i owned my own company, and they gave me a card.
at no time did they look at the stuff i brought in :)

BAH! They've definitely lost my business now, first they wouldn't give me a card now they want £10 per spark plug? Halfrauds indeed! :(

It seems totally random, my local store told me if I was spending £400 or something a month that would be considered a "keen home mechanic" but nothing less! :D

Just try a different branch! I had to re-apply and I used the same method at a different store and it was fine. Just printed my membership form off from cliosport (with the paypal payment of £5) and it was fine, infact he didn't even look at the paperwork.

One of the forums is giving the card away with their membership, so just use that as your argument :D

just rang my local halfords in bristol, told them I worked for fowlers and asked what I needed for one of these cards. The bloke said you need to be in the motor trade, I said I am ( motorcycles ) and he said just bring down a payslip and they will issue one

Result!!

"High volume of local motor factor invoices from last 3 months"

How much do you reckon i will need?

I have spent about £300 on audio this week and have probably about £200 of stuff from the week before and then lots of bits and bobs. Will that be enough?

Try it and see, but with it being audio i wouldnt have thought that would be much use.

Been ringing around some of the more not-so-local Halfords stores around me, trying to blag a card and they are all asking for employment details :/

looks like the overalls technique you guys speak of may just work.

Any idea if it gives you discount of bicycles?
