Halifax Online banking Firefox Phising Warning

I've just got this warning today about the Halifax online banking page. Never had it before and i get it not when just using my bookmark but when directly going to the site.

Should I stop using it?

do you mean stop using halifax web site?
I recieved an e-mail about two weeks ago giving some bull about my account, with a link to a site which looked like the halifax site asking for username password pin details etc.
I knew it was a fake site because i dont have a halifax account.
The real site should be fine, the main thing to remember is to be warey of any site that asks for your pin number. DON'T GIVE YOUR PIN to any one.
If your in any doubt, contact the halifax by telephone for peice of mind.
P.s Check your pc to make sure it is virus free( dont know if there are any viruses out there that may change your links without your knowledge.

that's dodgier than gary glitter in a school playground. i think your firefox or even your whole pc has been compromised. do not use internet banking until it's sorted.

"get me out of here" is hardly a professional warning dialog you would get associated with a legit site/application....

That dialog is a feature in FF2, iirc.

I'm getting the same thing from the halifax online banking now. nothing in IE, but I'm not logging in until I find out more.

just checked and you're right. i certainly wouldn't have trusted that dialog if it had happened to me. there's a test page here.....

It will, assuming you're running 1.5.0.8.

Presumably they haven't released the update for it then (or something else) - but it would have updated eventually. It was the main point to 1.5.0.8's release (being able to offer major/minor updates, ie upgrade to 2.0.0.x or stick with 1.5.0.x). There's a Mozillazine thread packed with information.
Folks are saying they've seen the offer of the update though - you'll only get asked once though...

When was FF2 released?

October 24th. 2.0.0.1's in the pipeline now.

I always update Firefox whenever they're available so definitely hadn't seen that before. A bit strange, but nevermind.

I just tried navigating to the online banking page from the bona fide halifax homepage in IE7 and it flashes up a page saying that the "website security certificate has expired"

Sounds like they have forgotton to put 50p in the meter.

Mind you I used this online banking page the about 3 days ago using firefox 1.5, which didn't flash up a warning, and I was able to access all my accounts which wouldn't happen if the page was a copy, hope so anyway.
