Halo 2

Sounds a tad disappointing. The Games For Windows Live is pretty much the only reason I'm thinking of getting this.

Would deffinetly not buy vista for this, they will be loosing out on many sales if it does indeed stay as vista only. Saying that its been said to be vista only for ages now.

Vista only, what a way to not sell a game. I wouldn't be suprised if it was dx10 only as well.

Please, for the love of god, tell me the DX10 comment was ment to be sarcastic...

If it wasn't, I can only hope two people share your login for this forum.

Is anyone truely interested in this though? I would have thought most fans would have given in and picked up a cheap xbox or something, its atrocious the conversions take so long.

I pre-ordered it but only to see what H2 would look like in spiffy HD, AA and AF'd graphics. I like the multiplayer on the console version, and it would be nice to do M/KB with it.

Remember Halo 1 on PC was critically panned as well, but massive numbers of people still loved the (poorly made) multiplayer mode, me included.

That said, with Halo 3 around the corner, this release really does seem insignificant and pointless right now.

Exactly, I would be curious to see how it'd look on the PC and try out the multiplayer, but it just seems so pointless when i can go and play the Halo 3 beta, then the full game in September. It'd be great to see a quicker release, say 3 or 4 months after the xbox version.

If it was dx10 only then it wouldn't run on 99% of peoples pcs because their graphics cards won't support direct3d 10, halo 2 supports dx10 but will also run fully using dx9.

You do realise that right?

I guess that's the point.

Microsoft know that if they delay release of a PC version by a long time, the fans will buy an XBOX360 to play it, if they really want to.

If they released a PC version shortly after the XBOX360 version, they'd lose console sales. I'm sure quite a few people have shelled out for an XBOX to play the Halo games on, who wouldn't have otherwise if they could've got it for PC sooner.

I personally don't have an XBOX360, and have never played Halo 2, so would've been tempted to get this, if it didn't sound so.... not brilliant ;)

I already run Vista, so I haven't got to worry about upgrading just to play it (not that I'd upgrade an OS for one game anyway)

I may still give it a go though. I did complete Halo on the PC, despite it getting a bit boring in the middle, where, as the reviews also said, it seemed to have copy and paste levels... doing the same thing, in the same place over and over.. but all in all, it was enjoyable.

V1N.

EDIT: and I guess they make more money from sales of the XBOX360 version too, due to its higher price.

Oh its not really worth getting now, far better SP FPS on PC. The SP was never that good even on first release, felt more like Halo 1.5. Its the multiplayer where it stand out, still one of the most well balanced and enjoyable multiplayer shooters i've ever played. Just a pity Halo 3 is even better :D

Its been leaked onto the torrent networks, and apparently theres a few groups working on getting it going on XP :) I have pre-ordered it because frankly I love the game and would love to play it in HD on my PC. Both my pc and laptop run vista flawlessly & you dont have to buy windows vista to be able to use windows vista ;)

Personally I cant wait to be able to play this on Legendary again and even earn achivements for it :)

Recently purchased the Xbox version for £6.99 @ an independent retailer. No way will I be getting it for PC, not when A: Halo 3 is released just after my birthday & B: Halo 2 is old hat now & C: Vista gives me nothing but trouble, still.
