Just had my Halo 3 Limited Collectors Tin delivered from the obvious place, and both discs inside were loose
The bonus disc has a couple of marks, but the main game disc is completely manked up. I guess I can try it out, but i'm guessing it won't work :(

Anyone else have there discs arrive loose? The securing mechanism seems to be really quite poor.

My game disc was loose but it had absolutely no scratches on it whatsoever, the other disc was fine

I was rather dissapointed with the case design in general though, even after you get past the rubbish disc holders

How did I know I would see a thread like this this morning

Yep same deal my end, tin all banged up & bonus disc knocking around loose inside  Luckily though the disc doesn't seem to have any scratches on it and the main game seems to have arrived intact secured to the case.

With that being said I am contemplating still sending it back due to the damage to the tin, I guess the decision will boil down to whether I want to wait to play the game or not.....

It's been a major issue in other territories with the collectors and other special editions, apparently MS will replace the disc free of charge if you contact them :)

Very poor and embarrassing for this sort of thing to happen to their biggest game of the year though.

There was a report on Joystiq about this yesterday, apparantly the spindle on the collectors version is badly manufactured and can't hold the disks properly, i'd recommend just taking it back to the shop for a new one, then opening it in front of them.

Thats the only affected set though, Legendary or the other sets are fine.

Mine's fine, both stuck in pretty well.. although not as well as some of the cases where the disk bends before the thing comes out. You'd think they would have figure out the best way to clip disks in by now.. we've had CDs and DVDs for quite a while :)

They've agreed to do a complete refund, so it's going back in the post now. I'll try and pick it up at Tescos or something tonight. :(

Hello Halo3... goodbye Halo3!

With it being a so-called 'Limited Collectors', you would be forgiven for thinking that Microsoft is making them with some special care and attention to details?!

Microsoft has admitted there's a problem with Halo 3's Limited Edition packaging scratching game discs, and is now offering replacements via the Xbox website.

The problem is blamed on the plastic and foam nub in the LE tin designed to hold the discs; it turns out plenty of gamers - including CVG - are opening their copies of Halo to find the discs loose and scratched

That's all very well and good but what about us people who's disc's seem to be ok but the tins look like they've been sat on by Yokozuna?

Mine was loose, but looks okay. I guess I will have to try it out first. I do wish that had just stuck to the steal book ala Bioshock SE (and Halo 2 for that matter).
