Halo ODST Firefight

I fancy a change for a while from Battlefield Bad Company 2, I'm growing weiery now Ive ranked up fully.

Is the firefight mode in ODST any good? Can you play with other players from XBL or is it from your friends list only? I know its an odd question, but I thought I read the latter somewhere?

Also it's local play (no doing it over the internet) too right?

Anyway it's fun at least, hoards of covenant dropping in and trying to beat them all is quite cool but it depends on how you like it. For me ODST had a problem with the difficulties where normal would be too easy but heroic would be too hard for this kind of mode (since they do swarm you sometimes) so I didn't have a happy medium to play on but if you're comfortable with the difficulties that'd help.

I was going to pick up ODST but that put me off a bit.

It might be different for Halo Reach so fingers crossed it isn't friends only, but if I was to take a guess I would say it will be friends only since it would be the easier option for them. The reason it's friends only in ODST is because it is built off the Campaign portion of Halo 3 which is Co-op with friends, it's a shame but it couldn't be helped since they had a very limited time frame to get the game ready (14 months IIRC).

I'm sure they would have liked to have done a Match-making option for Firefight, but they neither had the time or man power, since the team was just a small team diverted from Halo Reach development.
