Basically after looking into halo reach i decided after sitting my in red robe and smoking a pipe i came to the conclusion it looks awesome.
Anyway the only halo games i owned is:
halo (pc)- Thought it was brilliant back then and must have finished the sp 3-4 times. It also was my first online game, and so i loved the mp side of it.
Halo 3 (xbox360)- Played the sp and got to the last campaign then never touched it. Played mp for a while, enjoyed it but got put at the bottom of the pile as i bought more games.

Anyway i was thinking of getting back into the Halo games, mainly the co-op sp campaigns with my brother. I had a look and it looks like theirs only ODST left until Reach comes out. Will i know whats going on story wise as ive missed out on Halo 2, and never completed Halo 3.
Also is the halo legends dvd worth a watch.

Edit: Sod it what do i need for a Halo marathon heres a list what i think, if im wrong can someone put it in order:
Halo
Halo 2- Should i get it for pc, or will an xbox original copy work on xbox360?
Halo 3
Halo wars
Halo ODST
Halo Reach

Might aswell play through Halo 2 coop while your at it,the campaign at the time was brilliant but H3 deffo tops it. Best multiplayer though IMO.
ODST is worth picking up just for firefight and the Halo 3 multiplayer disc, has all the extra map packs etc. so you can play online properly :D.

Let's just get this out of the way for everyone shall we?

Halo sux!!! omg wtf u doin play sumtin els

Now that's done, I'd recommend you just play 1-2-3-ODST. Halo Wars is kind of the black sheep, it's a good RTS but I don't think it deserves to stand in with the rest of the series.

Just keep in mind Halo: Combat Evolved suffers from severe FPS issues on the 360 (It's at 20fps nearly all the time) and it's not worth playing unless you have an original Xbox. Halo 2 suffers from a considerable amount of graphical glitches on the 360 too, but the FPS is untouched and should be smooth throughout.

PC ports of both are abysmal, so avoid! If you can, try to play the games on an original Xbox, as the 360 BC emulation just can't cut it for either of them.

Well i own halo 1 on pc so im gonna install that later, i dont own an original xbox so halo 2 will either have to be on pc or missed out, so what do you think?

Edit: Halo 1 and 2 im only playing sp by myself so surely the pc version for halo 2 cant be that bad just for that?

I think you could save halo wars for another time after the fps versions. I still need to play it. Buy an original xbox to play halo n 2

edit: halo 2 on the pc isn't to bad you can get achievements to!

Buy an original Xbox if you possibly can in any way. I would play Halo 2 on PC but the mouse acceleration is even worse than it was for the original Halo. It can be played with a 360 controller though, which is officially supported.

Halo 2 will work on a 360. I'd say 2 then ODST then 3 as the ODST story overlaps Halo 2. Don't play then on normal (way to easy) and try to do them co-op, much more fun.

Nah, halo 1 on the pc is great. Halo 2 is awful though. I think it was microsofts way of saying "Buy vista! ... OK, now buy an xbox"

I played halo on the xbox first, then on the pc, then I played odst on the 360 and now I'm playing 3 on the 360. The story is pretty much "shoot aliens in the face until you're bored".

How do you get halo 2 to work on xbox360?
Do you buy the original xbox copy then simply put the disc in and away you go?

I'm 99% sure, haven't got a copy here to try but i'm sure i just put the old disk in, and let it update. (to run 50hz i think)

Should be a list of supported old xbox games online somewhere.

Halo
Halo 2
Halo ODST
Halo 3
Halo Reach

Wars is fairly separate, it's a set fair while before events of Halo and doesn't 'connect' to them really, plus is a very different game style

Try not to cry after you finished halo 3 me and my cousin did :(

Yeah, I always thought they could never find a way to finish the series properly ever since I beat Combat Evolved for the first time but Bungie somehow found a way. The ending of Halo 3 is perfect and one of the best series finisher of any game around.

This is of course, assuming there's never going to be a Halo 4 (and there obviously isn't)

You need to play Halo 2, ODST, Halo Wars then read the books (they're pretty damn good, with the exception of The Flood)

Halo Legends I found boring to be honest.

the flood was just a book version of Halo: Combat Evolved to be honest, though it had some differences, more depth in parts. but Fall of Reach, First Strike and Ghosts of Onyx are all great books, especially Fall of Reach. gotta play the first game first, no point at starting somewhere in the middle or else you'll miss the whole point of whats going on. Halo: Wars is decent game, but chronologically it should be first on the list, like such:

Halo: Wars
Halo: Reach
Halo: Combat Evolved
Halo II
Halo III: ODST
Halo III

thats the only true order of things, but since Reach isn't out yet it messes things up a little...:D

I enjoyed Halo Wars but the story is not really central to the overall narrative, same with ODST. I would give Halo 2 a play through though just for the enjoyment.
