Hey guys (forgive me for my first trip into the motors section)

I currently own a Mk2 1.6 driver of which the bodywork is immaculate however the running side of the car could do with a little tlc (idle is a little ropey and sometimes on cold mornings can struggle to start first time) Other then that it runs fine.

I don't know a great deal about cars but i was considering changing car (selling the golf) and getting something like a seat Ibiza 2.0 16v Cupra Sport. (Just really appeal to me for some odd reason?)
Main reasons are that i would like something a little more comfortable (power steering, bit more speed etc) I didnt fancy spending a lot on a car upgrade so i thought that this would be an ideal "in between" car. Ive seen a few online sell and advertise for between 1-1.5k with similar mileage.

Just wondered if anyone had any help or comments on the car choice? Known issues to look for if i go view any? Anyone know of any for sale or where to look? And if anyone has driven or owned one? Also what sort of price should i list the mk2 1.6 Driver for?

Its a G reg, metallic light blue color, 120k on the clock, about 6 months MOT and 1 Month tax left. Tidy bodywork and looks great for its age.

Sorry for the vague questions but as i said im a bit of a noob when it comes to cars.

*hold up flame shield*
Many thanks

Sorry, I'm a giant idiot, I missed the "Also what sort of price should i list the mk2 1.6 Driver for?"

Sell the Golf on an entusiast forum if it has good bodywork but, depending on how serious the issues are, a feww hundred up to £400 max - really depends on condition tbh.

The Ibiza is a good choice as a little hot hatch imho, can do a lot worse!

musty

get onto www.clubgti.co.uk. youll get a buyer there

you will also get more tech support than you can handle and theyll have your car running like a peach in no time. those old golfs just dont die

as for the ibiza, cracking choice. another vw engine thats totally bullet proof

Yeah it just requires some TLC of which i don't have the time for tbh. Im almost certain (in my lack of knowledge) that its something to do the vacuum hoses that are causing the rubbish idle.

Im just so "unmotivated" to work on cars. The body work is in great condition for its age.

As for the cupra anyone know of any decent ones for sale?

tbh im not sure if a cupra 2.0 16v will suit you if youre unmotivated and have no mecahnical knowledge. theyre all 10-12 years old now, they will all want bushes, vac hoses blah blah blah its going to take some tlc to look after

get the cupra right and itll be a gem but it will take a fair bit of effort

I mean I'm unmotivated to work on the golf when i have no intention of keeping it. Once i get the cupra (if i ever find one thats close and worthwhile) i will take good care of it and spend time and money on it as needed. My knowledge is not great but i have a few friends that are mechanical by trade so i can always learn from them.
