Apparently the cops have shut down half of Hammersmith due to a bomb threat, my wife (working today) was told to stay indoors and await further instruction.

Given there has been nothing on twitter about half of Hammersmith being closed off, I'm a skeptic. Lots of people actually live in Hammersmith.

No reported road closures on google maps either.

Yep that'd do it all right, some numpties wandered off leaving their bag behind, i await the inevitable follow up story in the Daily Mail about the bomb squad blowing up a bag full of some ones useless tat.

There isn't any. The only possible connection to what the OP is saying is a single road closure, albeit a pretty important one right outside the station.

Tfl didn't mention anything about the station being closed.
