For anyone who has a hamster or knows anything about them? mine has just decided to curl up under her water bottle and from what I can gather is sleeping, is this normal though? as it is night time .. she did move around a little before and had some food but now she just curled up sleeping and not really moving.

It's sleeping then... and that'll be why it's not moving. :/

Anything else I can help with?

But I just found it odd because it doesn't normally sleep at night I didn't think they did that and not usually under the water bottle always in its little house, but this is normal? im wondering if it was maybe sick but it seemed fine lastnight and its only started doing this tonight after it slept all day in its nest.

Well, if it's dead in the morning it was probably sick. If not, it was just sleeping.

My old hamsters used to sleep wherever they pleased even though they spent a lot of time in their 'bed'. Chances are you might just need to change the bedding or something as it's dirty.

I did change her bed just recently so its clean .. it did seem like she was just asleep but find it odd because its not a place she'd normally sleep and with it being night time she's usually more active.

I just went into check and she was perched on the edge of the food bowl sniffing the air then went right back to the same spot  im guessing she'll be ok.

Hopefuly yeah .. this isnt the first freakish thing she's done, she will pick out all the food she likes when i feed her and leave the rest, if i give her a little bit of cheese as a treat and it has a hard bit on like how it goes if its not coverd she wont eat it. I should have checked with pets at home to see if she was normal first.

Well, just so you know. When a hamster is about three years old it tends to grow wings and develop a really nasty bite. It'll tend to fly off and hide in hard to reach places when you let them out of the cage too. Fortunately though, hamsters usually don't tend to live to this age often, so you'll probably be saved from the hassle.

My ex found a hamster under her floorboards, we thought it was a mouse or a rat and when her landlord had the boards up to find out what it was, it was a hamster! Was a semi detached house, didn't belong to either flat next door, we had no idea how it got there.

Anyway we took it to the vet when it had a huge lump hanging out of the back of it, and were told by a smirking vet that that was simply one of his enormous testicles and apparently it's not unusual.

We never did see the other one, like all hamsters he died as soon as my ex became attached to him.

I wouldn't say only eating food she likes is freakish, my girlfriend's the same and she's still alive, she's 23. She sleeps in the day sometimes as well.

You lot are so cruel. :D

WRT food, our rats used to do this all the time, picky ******** :p

And on that note you really should have got a rat, far nicer pets, you can actually do stuf with them and they like you, unlike Hamsters that are generally miserable bity things. :(

Your hamster sounds fine hun. My ex had hamsters & I've had a mouse in the past.
In both cases I found they moved their beds around quite often & can be fussy buggers with their food.

One hamster my ex had was pretty quiet & dull, where the other was for ever eating or chewing at things (he even chewed through this cage, escaped & then chewed through the telephone wires lol).

Give the hamster time to settle & get used to you. Keep the cage/bedding clean etc & everything should be fine.
