Hand held speed guns

Right think I was caught speeding. Around 40mph in a 30mph zone which leads onto a 40mph zone wasn't really paying attention to my speedo.

It was a police man with a hand held speed gun. He was holding it like a rifle.

He dint try and wave me down and there was a police car across the road with more officers not sure if they where booking someone else. I looked at him more than he did me as I was expecting to get flagged down but din't.

Will I get something though the post? Do they need evidence to convict since I was not stopped?

Just found it strange that he was still pointing it down the road behind me while I was staring at him going past. must have looked a right muppet lol

Might have just been a survey?

I've seen/done similar to you before and I think they were surveying speed of road users in an area where they are thinking of changing the speed limit.

Think it was a proper speed trap

My wife got a NIP through after speeding past a policeman with a gun. No idea whether the gun took a picture too?

don't think so. The gun had two big lenses over and under.

I don't even think I slowed down much when I noticed them as I was expecting to get pulled over....

Ahh well lesion learned.

Just hate waiting on something that might and might not come!!

have u got any points already?, ever been caught before....if not dont worry bout it

nope first points since i passed like 15 years ago.

From what I read there's a good chance I have got away with it as they prefer to pull you over with the handguns and are mostly after excessive speeders or just to show people why are out and about checking speed.
There was ample time and was safe to flag me down.


If I have got caught hopefully I get offered a course instead of points.
