Handbrake Bluray - Anamorphic = None?

Hmm, just read that Bluray is not anamorphic and so you should use "None" rather than "Strict / Loose" in handbrake, to ensure that any black bars are not cropped on bluray conversions...

Anyone know about this?

I've always cropped black bars and set as "Strict" to ensure a smaller filesize... now wondering if this is actually the right thing to do!

Blu ray is square pixel, not anamorphic. You want to crop the black bars and set the setting to none. The output resolution will be something like 1920x800 once cropped.

That makes sense, however with strict you end up with a 1920 X 800 picture as well with cropping enabled, so unsure if there is actually any difference between strict and none in that example?

Honestly I'm not sure what that setting does in this example but Blu-ray is definitely not anamorphic. Anamorphic is used if something doesn't have square pixels such as a DVD.
