Hiya Guys,

I've been using HandBrake for some time! Really like it, and I've ripped many of my movies using it.

Now I dunno what I cane across to make me panic but, I just used the default settings?

Which is MP4-AAC, and not H.264-AAC?

H.264 takes much longer then just using MP4, but have I done all my ripping wrong?

I mean, they look great, but isnt H.264 much better? I cant believe I've ripped my movies now knowing using the H.264 would have made them even better?

I'm running a test right now with a small episode, ripped it using mp4, and now h.264 to see the difference.

What do you guys think? :(

Thanks.

H.264 would look better near DVD quality, but the file size compared to MP4 might not be worth it.

I use AVI most of the time, but MP4 looks better but requires more CPU time to decode.

Thanks for your replies (other forum too)

The episode I'm ripping in mp4-h.264-acc is still going!?!? started just before twelve? and now still says an hour to go? - its about 45mintues long

I've done many movies usiong the standard setting, like starwars etc. I personally think they look great?

Will I be silly to carry on using the default settings or not?

I plan to copy my entire dvd collection onto the computer and located them on a mirror raid.

Should I reconsider before encoding any more or stick to what I've been using?

Thanks
