Hi Guys,
I am having difficulties using handbrake. Basically i bought the red dwarf series 1-8 box set and am trying to rip them to my HDD. So i played around with a few of the presets and the best results i got was a stuttery 1.6GB video... I would love to get respectable quality with reasonable file sizes, but have absolutely no idea how to do it! If you do wanna help and require info from me please ask!

If anyone has any ideas please reply

Many Thanks
Jonny

OK so;
DVD in,
scan disc,
select first chapter,
toggle presets,
select high profile,
press start...

2.96GB 30 min file... stuttery sound, no video...

AppleTV 2 preset is pretty good. When you say it's stuttery, are you sure you've got enough horsepower to play back H264? Sorry if that's an insulting question!

I've never before had a major problem with Handbrake. BBC dvds have come out fine too from what I have seen.

just select file format m4v. video codec h.264 and constant quality set to RF : 20. will work fine. also play it with vlc

handbrake has worked with every dvd i have thrown at it bar pixar ones where it encodes the chapters in an odd order. sure thats a piracy measure and also a documentary from BFI. so should work fine
