Handbrake Use With Automatics!

Had my car in a merc garage today to get a fly wheel changed and I asked them to check out a faint rubbing moise I could hear from the rear wheel area.

He seemed shocked when I told him I always use my handbrake when I leave the car! Seemed to think that the park "gear" is good enough!

I park on a slight slope at night, so I would always put it on then, but on a day to day basis what does everyone else do?

Do you guys wait for the vehicle to be stationary before shifting from say R to D?

I always seem to, not sure why, mechanical sympathy perhaps, but i notice that my partner doesnt. She just blasts back in R and shifts to D while still going (slowly) backwards. Doesnt seem to have blown a box up yet

Yeah, always wait until I am completely staionary before swapping gears.. Don't fancy those tiny tiny slithers of metal floating around my transmission!
