Handheld Owners

Is the MSI Claw A1M a good deal at £300? It's certified refurbished and the i7 variant. Basically for light gaming like need for speed heat, dying light thr beast and witcher 3

I've got a couple of erying desktop motherboards with 155/165H chips in them, and they've been pretty great with games. I know at launch drivers were pretty rubbish on the Claw handhelds, but I really don't think you'd have a bad time at all now.
Took Intel quite a while to fully sort out Crimson Desert on Alchemist based cards, but they did actually do it. For most older stuff it's fine, occasionally worth using DXVK for some extra performance.

I won a steamdeck oled early in the year and wasn’t sure if I’d use it or not. I’ve barely used my ps5 since ! Just find it so convenient to just pick up and play for a short bursts.

Mostly been playing older games that I’d missed over the years but also picked up cyberpunk in the sale. Shared my ps5 save over (I got distracted and never got back into it) and got back into it and have nearly finished the story now.

Wish I bought one years ago

You can always stream your PS5 to the SD too.

I’ve given it a go think I need a router upgrade or to plug the ps5 into it with the Ethernet as wasn’t quite as good as I expected . Still playable mind !

Plugging the PS5 into Ethernet usually seems to be the big one for remote play. Handhelds really do suit those quick "half an hour here and there" sessions though.

News on the new Intel chipset handhelds. $1500 is kind of steep!
Now I’ve experienced SteamOS on my ally handheld I won’t touch a windows one going forward.

Don’t think Intel has any compatibility for it but it looks powerful on paper

It's generally a bit faster than the Steam Deck, sometimes a reasonable amount, but nowhere near as fast as the newer Intel chips, or the AMD Z1/Z2 Extreme chips. It also desperately needs all the firmware and driver updates it got to get the best out of it as it was a bit of a mare on launch; and the Intel Arc drivers have come on a long way. XESS on Intel does get a better variant than the general purpose one everyone gets access too, so thats potentially a win.

They had them new for a similar price for a short while, and I was genuinely tempted, but it was more of a sidegrade/slight upgrade over the SteamDeck OLED, with the good and bad of windows, so I left it.

No ceiling on these prices apparently.
