Handing in Notice - Work Question

Kahn, did you dive straight into structural engineering of your field (oil platforms or something iirc) post studies or did you start into more "mundane" stuff before going into that area?
 
I joined my current company as a grad doing subsea structural engineering, why do you ask?

Just curious really.

Before the downturn when I joined Ramboll (early 2008), they started expanded into Oil & Gas in the UK and at the time wanted structural engineering grads to train up in the field, and I said no as I was still learning. Whilst I love what I do (building design), it would be useful to know what the transition would be if someone was to switch to more specialised engineering. An old friend of mine did jump to Oil & Gas (it was that or get made redundant) but I don't see him anymore as he got moved to Copenhagen eventually.
 
Ah right I would say you were silly not to go, I came from an aerospace background to do structural stuff, if you want any specific info just send me an email to my trust
