What's in your contract? That's the maximum you are obliged to give them.
Mine is 3 months but I have negotiated this to 6 weeks and have 5 left.
It doesn't sound like you are on such good terms with the boss that you are likely to do him this favour unless he has you by the contract terms.

Im contracted for a calendar month's notice only.
So he wouldnt give you 5 minutes but now wants you to give him an extra 4 weeks???
