Bought a braun mr30 for 2.40 at a carbooty, gave it a good clean tho didnt need it as looked unused. Tried it today to make a tasty shake. Pealed a orange and lobed it in the beaker then added 1 apple minus core. Tried to blend it to make a smoothy with no bits in but it failed. Added some milk to try to help but still had bits in and didnt taste nice at all.

Waste of money unless i did something wrong??

You didn't sieve the bits out. A hand blender won't pulverise every last piece of solid into liquid. If you just want juice, use a juicer, then add any other liquids/ice cream etc.

Apples and oranges are probably the hardest fruits to attack with one of those things!

Maybe a softer slightly over-ripe apple might be better.. Golden Delicious and such are also usually softer than say Granny Smiths. Oranges also have lots of skin between the segments, maybe pips, and pith.

As said above, go for softer and more uniform fruit like bananas, strawberries (most berries should fare well), etc. If you want an orangey or appley flavour, throw some orange or apple juice in.

I often throw in a little ice cream, frozen yoghurt or sorbet, too.

The best and easiest is a banananana milkshake. Bananas, vanilla ice cream, milk, and a drop of honey. YUM!

Tried grapes just now, did a nice job but still taste a few skins in. Hmm so i need to sieve stuff meh. :(

Got a banana and some icecream might give it a whirl next.

Btw do u just add the stuff ur blending or do u always need to add some liquid like water or milk for every blend?

Strawberrys, Banana & Vanilla ice cream but don't tell anybody I told Ya.

You need the bits! Great for fibre. Will make your poo fabulous!

How is a poo fabulous? do you mean the feeling of doing a poo or the actual poo itself?

It's hardly going to jump out the basin and start glistening!

What sort of pansy sieves a smoothie?

Mine consist of this:

1 banana
Blueberries
grapes
stawberries
Porridge oats
natural plain yogurt
teaspoon cinnamon
(whey protein) - you don't need this bit

You can also add a bit of honey if you want it sweeter. You will end up with bits of skin and pulp, but it's a real fruit smoothie, not some sickly supermarket juice!
