I have a 50" panasonic plasma 3d tv, doe anyone know if i were to hang it on a wall what kind of height should be the best for viewing?

wall Bog standard size wall bog standard size sofa. if you were hanging this what height would you have the baseline of the tv from the floor?

cheers

I would have the centre of the TV at eye height from where you will be viewing it from. I can't stand people who mount TV's 2 inches from the ceiling lol.

Actually, it's more comfortable for the centre to be slightly lower than eye level. Since different people are of different heights, make sure you mount the TV on an adjustable arm.

i would agree however i perfer to lean back on sofa when watching tv so my head is rested on back of sofa so i like to have TV slightly higher than eye level to allow for this.
And as im fitting its my choice haha so other have to complain.

I can't find my sketchup plans to get the actual height but it gives you an idea, was a little over eye height to allow for new speakers but well within boundaries.

There's nothing worse than a TV so high up a chimney breast its painful lol

I'd have it a fair bit lower than in that picture.

So would I as well it looks far to high to me unless of course your sitting on some sort of raised throne when watching the box! No idea how high ours is but it's a lot lower than that and our sofa is fairly standard!

OP the real answer is any height you like as long as you find it comfortable I have friends who insist the height they have the TV is perfect for them even though I find it really uncomfortable, you will after all be the one watching it!

God give me strength :)

many thanks for the answers and tips, i too think my tv should be eye level however "the wife" seems to think not, also the wife did not consider the sky box or bluray player location. So for now its staying where it is :)

it was as low as I could go, speakers and baby who liked to touch things :D but it was fine and looked good.

At my new house I shall be going lower when livingroom renovations start, have the advantage that tv side wall is much wider so speakers won't be under it so will be able to hit closer to eye level, can't wait to start work, it's like your grannies livingroom currently lol.

I usually go for 1200mm to centre of the screen when I'm drawing it, gives a bit of leeway if you don't know the persons height or sofa etc (usually that's the height of a socket and cable outlet too)
Just a general rule of thumb and obviously it can be tweaked depending on the details of the client/room
