Hi guys,

Was after a few suggestions if I may.

Have had to reinstall XP on my machine twice in the past 3 weeks now...

The PC has been working fine and I turn it off as usual in the evening, come to turn it back on the day after and all goes well, it posts, gives me the Windows loading bar and then goes to a black screen and you expect it to load into desktop....

For some reason though it just hangs at that black screen and won't move. I have tried running Safe mode, but that just spams with the usual stuff down the screen for a second, then hangs there.

I have since reinstall XP again :( But was wondering what you guys thought may be the problem, if there's any more information I can give you to help you suggest a few fixes please say, as it really is a pain to reinstall everything over and over :(

Thanks for any input.

Nah I haven't changed a thing in the Bios.

I have tried several reboots too, but I tend to get the same, the safe mode options and "last known good config" screen. None of which work and all give the same problem so I end up reinstalling XP :(

Sound like it could well be some sort of driver conflict, but really thats jsut a stab in the dark. When you reinstall windows does it still hang when you have yet to install your device drivers?

Yep I've tried Memtest and that didn't find any problems. I'm not sure about the latest bios, but the PC is relatively new (8 months) and it has never done it before.

Nope it didn't seem to hang at all after the fresh install. It's a mystery.
