the last 2 days i've been having very slow hanging interenet. it's almost like i have a massive ping but still have good speeds, for instance youtube takes literally 20 seconds before a tab will fully load and start playing the video, and once it does that the video loads fine and fast, same for bbc, this website etc.

i've checked task manager and it shows my internet usage whilst loading a tab as 100% usage then nothing then 100% then nothing then 100% etc.

i've done a windows defender check which came back with nothing and also a malware check. restarted the pc, restarted the router and also tried a different brower, all of which has made no difference.

speed test comes back fine, ping is low and my download is around 14 meg, upload around 0.4. i'm with talktalk

any suggestions?

how would i change the dns on the router?

i've tried using the internet on a different device and it still seems to hang which would suggest my desktop is not the issue but the router or isp

You can either change your DNS server from your DHCP server, adjusting the DNS server it gives out, or, change the setting on the local adapter.

If the DNS server you're using is slow to respond, there'll be a few seconds before anything loads on the first DNS lookup.

bumping this as still having this issue. a hard reset of the router seemed to solve this issue, however it's now back and tbh i'm not sure if i'm remembering it wrong and that the hard reset didn't do anything.

any way i'm first looking for suggestions that monitor web traffic that i can install on my pc and see which program is using net as looking at task manager logs my internet usage is spiking massively but ican't see what's causing it.

any suggestions?
