I built my system three weeks ago and it was running fine for 2 weeks. A week ago it paused at the boot screen when it does the memory check (running XP btw) but a reset sorted it and it carried on fine. A week later the same thing happens and another reset sorts it. Now it just won't go past that screen and I'm at a loss to know why. Now it won't even turn on, the power supply is alright because I have tested it in another computer. Anyone with any suggestions?

Have you tried resetting the bios and trying again? Also check all your memory and any cards are seated ok, maybe reseat the CPU while your at it.

At which point does it stop..?

I have a similar problem where it sometimes stops after the USB initialisation during POST. It's looking for D01 but halts ???? I never got to the bottom of it. It went away for a few months then came back..

How do I reset the BIOS if I cant turn it on? I havent changed any settings in there, its all standard.

There possibly a jumper on the motherboard (depending on what model it is) to reset the bios. Look in your manual for its location or download the manual if you havent got one.
