I've had the HW191D for about 2 weeks, and in the past 5-6 days it's started acting very strange:-

The brightness/contrast of the screen has gone haywire; I've had to turn the contrast down to zero just so I can write this. Otherwise it's blindingly bright. I'm also experiencing severe movement echoes and shadows.

Now, the screen will occasionally pop back in to its normal state when it feels like it. If I don't switch the screen off, then it will stay fine. But if it goes in to power-saving mode, or the screen is switched off and then on again, the problem will come back.

I should note that both symptoms always happen at the same time. I'm using a VGA cable at the moment. I've had a look at my graphics card and I see no problems there, plus I sent a print-screen image of the desktop to a friend thinking he'd be able to see the problem, but on his monitor the .jpg looked fine. I'd say this strongly suggests that it is definatley a problem with the monitor.

I'm currently waiting for the return of my X850XT, so when I get it back I'm going to try using a DVI cable to see if it solves anything.

Sorry for the lengthy post. Thanks for reading. If anyone has any idea what could be the cause of this problem I'd love to hear it.

im having problems too..play back of divx and xvid movies is awful..skin tones are horrible..the same for photos too....its 100x worse than my CRT..also text on the screen has pink tints around it..this is even more apparent when I set ClearType...every text no matter where on the screen has bits of pink on it...I suspect your GFX card has DVI-I..this monitor is DVI-D so you will need a DVI-D DVI-D cable..im running VGA also..im going to get DVI-D cable..but its probably going to be a waste of £20

Well, I got an email back this morning asking me to send the details that will allow them to do a replacement under the warranty (I sent the email on Monday so not bad so far :S).

However, I'm stuck on whether to send it back now and possibly reduce the waiting time for a replacement, or wait for my graphics card to return so I can test it out with that. Problem is I haven't heard any news on this card for over a month.

I guess it's smarter to do the former, as with the latter I'm probably only delaying the inevitable. It's all rather annoying as I only bought the monitor to compliment the graphics card and now I'll have neither!

Well, my replacement monitor came today (it was due tommorow). Let's hope I don't have any similar symptoms with the new one!

Hanns G customer services were great, so I don't have any complaints as long as this monitor runs well.

any luck with your new one? keep us posted cus a lot of people have one to would be interesting if others have had probs with em.

You can get £3 ones that will do the job fine.

Hopefully the DVI-D cable sorts some of the problems out as my friend's just bought this monitor.
