Hanns.G HH251DPB, is it any good?

Agree with all the above comments, have had mine for about 6weeks now(supplied by Overclockers of course) and found it to be fantastic value for money. Looks good as well.

Hi folks,

I am buying a system from chillblast, it comes with a

Samsung B2430L 23.6" Widescreen LCD Monitor

or I can have at no price difference the

HANNS.G HH251DPB

I see you guys will have had them for a while, any advice on which one to go for?

Cheers

The B2430L is an excellent monitor by any standards and is one of the models I have been recommending for a long time on these forums. The colours are rich and vibrant and whites are nice and bright. The dithering and response time algorithms are also well tuned - so it gives very nice out of the box performance and was pretty much unrivalled in its price class. Unfortunately the price has been bumped up on this and the B2430H by a decent amount and therefore they don't get such firm recommendations. It used to be that you could get the B2430L for around £140 but now that doesn't seem to be the case.

The HH251DPB simply can't match this one for quality, but it does have a larger screen going for it and the current pricing is somewhat lower. Since you have a choice where the price is identical I would go for the Samsung. That's not to take anything away from the Hanns.G as it's great value. The Samsung is simply a better monitor.

Many thanks PCM2,

Yes I have read a lot of reviews/comments about the samsung and all have been to praise it. I think you are right quality over quantity is the way to go. Just me dithering about again.

Thanks again! (greetings from Teesside)

Ordered my two and received them. Well pleased, good quality right down to the buttons etc, no dead pixels, great looking.

Rate as great.

Better than the VA panel DGM ?

I have my eye on 3 of these for an eyefinity setup - just saw a picture of these in a 3 screen setup and looked a nice size. The bezels didn't look too thick either.

How does it perform in terms of input lag and responsiveness ?

Cheers

I have been using a 22" Hanns.G monitor for about 3-4 years now and its a great monitor for the money I paid for it.

Viewing angle on mine are not great, but it is an old one so im sure the tech has come on a fair bit since then.

Been thinking about replacing it for a few weeks now tbh as its only a 1680 x 1050 resolution and there is 1 pixel now stuck on blue and was looking at the 24" monitors.
Hadn't even clicked on the 25"-30" section on the shop as I thought they would all just be far too expensive.
Im shocked at how cheap this monitor is; £140ish is a bargain, its cheaper then all the 23" range let alone the 24" range.

Think I will be ordering 1 shortly :D

Well - managed to track down a bit more info - see this review - seemingly of the updated model - the HL251DPB

Compared against the discontinued screen the HL251HP

In summary both rated as responsive screens good to very good for gaming. In particular the newer screen gets a good write up for gaming - good responsiveness and low input lag.

The newer screens colours seem to be a little off compared to the older one. The newer one has only 1 DVI rather than 2 x HDMI (with a hdmi adapter). Plus the newer screen has a new design - Samsungesque in it's style (!)

Seems the newer model is LED backlighting and has a slimmer design. I`m looking at triple screens and not sure if the bezels are thinner - certainly no thicker judging by the pictures.

It seems OcUK need to update the photo - the specs seem to be correct.

Still tempted to get this for 3 screen eyefinity setup.

Cheers
