Let me start by saying I didn't buy this from OcUK and as such you can be confident in my impartiality as a reviewer.
I umm'd and ahh'd a great deal before making the selection based mainly on what I had read in the OcUK forums. I could have spent £300 upwards on a 20" TFT, but decided to see if what I could get for £130 was really that impressive and enough for my requirements. Yesterday at work I get a call from reception at work saying I had a package - it was the monitor, a DVI-D cable, and some 5.1 speakers (Creative P5800). I got home and installed the monitor taking my time as I was terrified of knocking it.
As I took it out of the box, first impressions were that it looked much better in real life than in all the pictures I'd seen, and was bigger and generally s3xier than I expected. The silver frame is fairly flimsey but frankly who cares and for this money I expected nothing more. The stand is better - metal cased in plastic and fairly robust. It clicks into the slot as you can see below.
My main thoughts were all about how the DVI would perform compared to my old analogue monitor, and of course the dreaded dead pixels. I switched it on and the first thing I did was run a dead pixel tester. NO DEAD PIXELS! Joy!
I then got some widescreen wallpapers and high res photos to have a look at the colours, then did the games / DVDs etc, all of which performed fantastically imo. I should reiterate that I'm coming from a dire monitor, but really this looks excellent with great response and suprisingly good viewing angles.
To conclude I really don't see the need for the Acer of the Viewsonic espeically when they're more expensive and don't have DVI. This is a nice looking monitor with a great picture in a wide range of applications.
