I have this monitor and bought it for a similar reason to you, my monitor packed up and i needed one on a budget due to driving lessons and stuff, i was a little dubious about it at first but took the plunge and i must say for the money im very very pleased.
I have had it about a week now and the biggest problem i have had is adjusting to the size of the thing for gaming but im over that now:
I have had a PS3 hooked up to the HDMI and it worked withouth a hitch, automatically detected the signal over HDMI. I was also a little confused about weather it accepted audio over HDMI and it turned out it does but the built in speakers are absoloutly terrible so if i was you id find another way to output your sound, though you will proberbly have speakers allready, i use an amp and bookshelfs so this wasnt an issue for me.
couple of things though, i got a cluster of about 2 or 3 dead pixels at the bottom left of my screen but this is nothing to worry about for me atleast as it really isnt big enough to bother me overly. There is also a little backlight bleed but nothing substantial either.
All in all i dont think youll find another 22" at this sort of price and over all it is a great monitor when that is taken into concideration, movies look great and windows general work is also nice, i havnt noticed any ghosting or input lag so it suits me for my gaiming, i use VGA at the moment so i cant comment on quality over HDMI for windows but i can only imagine it as an improovmant.
I can post pics if you would like?
