I dunno if we have many members of the gay community on here but if we do, I hope you guys are having an epic weekend, we're heading down to Soho tomorrow ourselves, just a pity it clashes with the quarter finals otherwise I'd have headed over today.

Be safe and have fun out there :D

I hope everyone had a great time. Our work had a bus as part of the parade :) I'm sure with that and the football it ended up being messy!

Don't really see the need for it.

I'm 'straight', you're 'gay' - so what ? Big deal.

Bigger issues in the world than sexuality.

How bored are these people and how meaningless their lives that they can be bothered to protest against something so banal as the 'L' in 'LGBT'.

They are radfem gender critical lesbians protesting against what they claim is the erasure of women in general (and lesbians in particular) by the trans lobby. You can get some idea of where they're coming from by reading these blogs:

They're also strongly opposed to this stuff:

This 100%, I was down Piccadilly with the wife a few years ago and I thought "Christ it's busy here" and asked one of the people in the crowd and they said it was the Pride march, we stopped to watch it as I said to the missus it'll be really colourful and party like. Everyone seemed to have fun but I don't really see the need for this kind of march in one of the most liberal countries in the world.

The thought that immediately jumped to my mind was "Splitters !"

For a nearly 40 year old film, Life of Brian is still a scarily accurate commentary on how stupid people can be.

It’s still a relevant thing to promote. We still have plenty of people (in older generations, really) that are very dismissive of non-heterosexuals, even on this forum.

If there is any cynicism to be applied, it’s surely more that pride is seemingly used as an event by many young people (who aren’t LGBT) just to get wasted and do drugs than promote the cause, but meh each to their own as long as it’s everyone is having a good, safe time :)

It's not until August some time. I usually avoid Brighton then as to me, it doesn't seem to be so much about being proud to be gay but rather a way to make huge amounts of money and mess.

I don't get it tbh. By all means fool around with whoever you want. But why the need to make a song and dance about it? It's not an achievement.

When you live in a world where people get stoned to death in public for being homosexual, celebrating your freedom to be gay is fantastic and shows those who don't tolerate it that it's harmless and not a crime.
