Hi guys, wonder if you can help me with this one. Removed the hard drive from my old computer and put it in new one. Now i want to get to some of the files which were on my desktop on the old computer. This hard drive is now a slave in the new computer and I can't access the desktop because the user files were protected before. Is there anyway I can get to these files without putting the hard drive back in the old computer?

It is a Windows problem with access rights to the folders but I have no idea how to get access, maybe create a user with excactly the same name as before

Right click on the Documents & Settings folder and select properties, then select the security tab and click the advanced button then click the owner tab, select your username and click "Take ownership" make sure you replace the permissions on all folders too.

I set it so that no other users could access the files on that user on the old computer.

There is no security tab when I go to properties on that folder.

I'm guessing that you're using XP HOME then, try booting up in safe mode (by htting F8 on boot) and you shouold see the security tab there
